This Weekend at the Art Shanty: Norwegian!

bunads at the shanty

The first weekend on the ice for the Nordic Immersion Village Art Shanty was a great success! Hosted by our Swedish friends from Sjölunden, the shanty received more than 500 visitors on Saturday alone! That’s a lot of navneskilt, nametags, namnbrickor, and nimilappu! You can read about it and check out some of the photos here.

We are hoping for even more visitors this weekend, which will be hosted by the Norwegians! Help us spread the word by inviting your family and friends to the Art Shanty on the Facebook event page and head on out to the lake on Saturday and Sunday (January 23-24) between 10AM and 5PM to experience Scandinavia on Ice! It’s a perfect opportunity to see old friends and to make new ones, as well as to introduce the Nordic Language Villages to someone you know!

The Art Shanty in the Media

There’s an excellent article in the Twin Cities Daily Planet about the history of the Nordic Immersion Village Art Shanty which features photos from nearly every stage of the process. Check it out!

We’ve also gotten some great media attention from ABC News, WCCO, the Pioneer Press, the City Pages, 3-Minute Egg, and others, so be sure to check out the Press page on the Nordic Immersion Village Art Shanty website.
